AFROPUNK X MADE BY MALYIA RECAP
Made by Malyia
My first festival as jewelry designer was a huge success.
I spent 5 months preparing and designing jewelry for my first festival debut. I was beyond nervous and questioned if I bit off more than I could chew. The week before the festival the forecast was severe thunderstorms for both days. The day before the festival I spend the day setting up my booth with my bestfriend Michelle. She brought my Afropunk Pinterest inspiration board to life. I managed to get stung by a bee which I would later find was a good luck charm but at the time I thought I was being sabotaged lol.
Then the big day arrived and my heart was in my throat. Did I forget anything? Are you ready? Maybe you should have waited one more year. These were all the thoughts running through my head but after praying I was sure I was suppose to be here.
Showtime came and all the fear I felt before was gone and the weekend went better than I could have planned. I met so many amazing jewels and gems that expressed interest in the collection. They bought their favorite pieces and took selfies rocking their new jewelry.
My weekend was fun filled and I was able to catch moments of Grace Jones and Lenny Kravitz performances. I hope to be a vendor at Afropunk 2016 and will begin preparing this weekend lol.
